#Sønday detox – Grapefruit juice with ginger
Today detox is grapefruit juice with ginger. Grapefruit is very nutritious. It contains large amounts of vitamin A and C, potassium, fiber, and antioxidants. There are three varieties of grapefruit, red, pink and white.
The general rule is the darker the fruit, the higher vitamin content. Grapefruit is beneficial for the heart, can lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of developing diabetes and increase your metabolism. It seems to be enzymes in grapefruit which increases metabolism and simultaneously lowers insulin levels. So it cant hurt to get it in every once in a while 🙂 Here are the ingredients you need:
A tip to make a juice that is not bitter is to take off as much of the white layer between and around the grapefruit boats. Thats the bitterness right there .. It is easier on soft grapefruits. If you feel the juice is still bitter then add a teaspoon of pollen!
I use pollen rather than sugar because it tastes sweet, it’s incredibly good for the good intestinal bacteria in your digestion, and it is much less stressful for the body to process than regular white sugar. Alternatively, you could try a little honey, anything is better than white sugar😉
- 4 grapefruits with red meat (choose the softest)
A piece of ginger (2-3 cm thick)
- A small teaspoon of pollen if you need to sweeten up the juice a little
- Throw everything in juicer and serve with ice cubes
