Flexitarian, I’m sorry, your what now?!
…I mean, come on! It’s already an ocean of slightly more legit titles to claim to show what food choises you make. I got it when you wanted to cut red meat, I never was big on red meat anyways. Carnivore sounds very barbaric anyways, we are not animals so we say.. And it also kinda makes sence health wise and invironmentally to cut down meat to a minimun. I see that.
I also got it when you actually chose to proclaim that you never again would eat this and started calling yourself a Pescetarian. OK, gotcha. Im basically there myself.
Then it was time to step it up a notch and quit the seafood as well and go Vegetarian. Alright, I mean, sure, no fish, no meat. It could work. Lets face it, the fish today eats more plastic than organic food, so maybe better to stear clear of these creatures too. (Read about Surfrider Foundations work to better the environment in the ocean here)
.. Im just getting a little bit worried how we gonna get enough proteins now, but hey, there are tons of great protein sources from plants. If you study up and go all in, then this works perfectly too. We got nuts, seeds, lentils, beans, peas, quinoa, Edamame, Tempeh and Tofu, hemp and chia 😀
A vegetarian would also pass as a front figure for animal rights too (just ditch the leather boots, the fall collection biker jacket and the fur please, it doesnt go well with the “Vegetarian” label.. It kinda also looks weird when you keep eating your kaviar and your liver paté, Im just saying..
But lets not forget that this lifestyle also goes well with todays knowledge of more environmentally friendly food options, as the meat industry stands for some horrific numbers of environmental acts of war. Anyways, time to go Vegan! And organic of course. Milk products and eggs are no longer an option. No more products from the animal chains. Hmmmmm.. oKeeeeeeeey… I mean, do we have a backup plan in case this backfires? Will I be able to do sports on the level I am doing today? More questions in my head..
But it gets more complicated, cause then you up the level again and go Raw Food Vegan.. So no more cooking, heating or preparing the veggies. Man ok I can live like that from time to time. A day here and there sure. But not as a full time living situation?! Jeiks!
Then I met a freaking Frutarian!! Let me say that again; a FRUIT-ARIAN.. Its a thing! The dude only ate fruits. ONLY fruits. Nothing else. He claimed to feel better than ever, but in my opinion, looking at his teeth, skin, body weight, hair etc I had my serious doubts. BUT, ok at least he had taken a firm stand. No more food other than fruits. Its in a way very simple and very clear. I would know what to serve this guy. I would worry for his health, but I would have things to serve him. But I question this Food Pyramide on so many levels..
But when you now write me and say you are a Flexitarian, and you are wondering if the kitchen has options for you, Im just like “YOU ARE WHAT NOW????” COME ON!!! Tell me this is a joke! Thank God there is still not an explanation in Wikipedia, but Im guessing it will be there soon….
What the hell does that mean? Are you carnivore monday, pescetarian tuesday, vegetarian wednesday, vegan thursday, raw food vegan friday, fruitarian saturday and flexitarian on sundays or how the hell does this work?? I mean THIS I CANT TAKE SERIOUSLY ANYMORE.. Then I am also all of the above titles. I can do them all from a day to day basis.
…..I never labelled me any of the above, as I eat a little bit of anything. If someone serves me food im not gonna say no. I was taught to appreciate the food I was served and therefor, a label for me doesnt work. But I salute you all that manage to make it work. Its admirable. Just please help me understand the latest idea of the flexitarian. I just CANT! I mean, for real, stop..! I mean, Is it like a tribal thing? You need to belong in a group? Tell me what is borthering you so I can understand you better…
